So I haven’t been doing much knitting lately… been a bit busy doing other things. We have been doing some sewing, however… there’s two upcoming events where Viking garb will be needed, so Jess has been spending some time over here and we’ve been working on making a tunic and apron dress for her. Because we have teh Dumb, we haven’t been taking pictures of our progress, but we’ll be working on it some more tomorrow hopefully and take some pictures of the almost-finished-products then. My tunic set is mostly formed, but still needs a huge amount of work due to frak-ups when I started… so Jess definitely got the benefit of past experience on this one, heh.

In pseudo-related news, I have started taking yoga classes (okay, class, technically, but I am going back.) I bought a mat, which was a bit on the pricey side but hey, it’s eco-friendly and you don’t slip at ALL, so I’d rather start off with a good mat than start with a cheaper one where I’m sliding all over the place (which is what happened last week with my borrowed mat.) And frankly, I got it from the cheapest of the online vendors and it was only $6 shipping for priority mail, so it arrived in 3 days! I’d say that’s money well spent.

So, what do you do after you buy a yoga mat? Make a bag for it, obviously. I started checking out patterns on Ravelry, and none really jumped out at me so I thought I would design my own. I started sketching out ideas and had a few decent ones, but now that my mat has arrived it’s really good I didn’t — the mat, being rubber, is really sticky. I even had a hard time sliding it into the camp chair bag I was going to use as a temporary case for it. So it looks like I’m going to sew one instead. I’ve got a ton of scrap fabric which I could use, so it might not actually turn out too badly. I’ll have to work up some sort of pattern of course, and get a zipper, but at least it’ll give me a chance to make something other than garb and a way to use up all of the fabric that I’ve been collecting which isn’t really suitable for clothing.
