This weekend was more busy than I’ve been in a long time, but I did get out of the house (other than going to work) which was wonderful. I went to New York Comic Con at the Javits Center in New York City which was a lot of fun, even though sadly I missed a bunch of friends who were supposed to go but wound up not being able to since tickets sold out for Saturday (luckily I purchased a weekend pass ahead of time! I was able to get a professionals discount too, from working in a library.)
The con was HUGE. Different from what I’ve been used to in terms that here, everything was in one giant room vs. broken up. Everything in there was awesome and brightly colored — I’m not into comics in general, but the panels I went to were good, the stuff was shiny, and I didn’t spend too much money (just three graphic novels — one autographed by Neil Gaiman from the CBLDF table! — a DVD, a Torchwood keychain, and a few free items.) I was disappointed that I missed the last day (when some stuff I really wanted to see was) but unfortunately I had to work. My full Flickr set of photos is here (should anyone be interested, although they aren’t all captioned yet.)
No knitting done at all this weekend. In fact, I had brought a WIP in my overnight bag into the city, but wound up not bringing it to the con because I knew I’d be carrying a lot of things. Of course during one panel I wound up sitting behind a woman who did bring her knitting and I was totally jealous. On the bright side, when I got home Saturday night, my KnitPicks order arrived! I will be stashing that on Ravelry soon, and winding up some of the hanks and hopefully starting on that by this weekend.
